Same as ball mill, rod mill is also used for grinding ores and the selection of ball mill or rod grinder should be made according to the specific working condition of the customer. Generally speaking, rod grinder is suitable for coarse grinding and ball grinder is suitable for fine grinding as the grinding media inside the rod grinder is steel rods which will have line contact, while the grinding media inside the ball mill is steel balls which will have point contact and different contact methods determines different grinding granularity.
Rod mill, which can also be called rod grinder, pin crusher, rod grinding machine ore grinding mill, is mainly used for making coal waster slurry in coal chemistry and for processing silica sand, tungsten ore, potash soda feldspar and bauxite.
The features of pin crusher is that in the ore grinding process, the grinding media have linear contact with the ores, so that it has selective grinding effect and the product granularity is even and the content of the over-crushing ore particles is low. When used for coarse grinding, the processing capacity of pin crusher is higher than that of the same type of ball mill.
The electric motor drives the cylinder to rotate through the reduction gear. When the cylinder is rotating, the ores and the steel rods inside the cylinder will be brought by the lining boards to a certain height under the frictional force and eccentric force. Under the gravity, the ores will fall down and be gradually crushed and ground under the impact force and grinding force. The crushed ores will be discharged out of the cylinder through the discharging part. The feeder machine continuously and evenly feed ores into the rod mill through the combine feeder machine and the ground materials will constantly be discharged from the pin crusher. Pin crusher is a powder grinding plant that is able to continuously work for 24 hours.
